A Step Closer to Our New Hospital

The MetroHealth Board of Trustees has selected Turner Construction Co. as the construction manager for much of our nearly $1 billion main campus transformation.

The Cleveland office of the international firm will oversee the building of our new 270-room hospital and our new central utility plant. That’s about $750 million of work.

Turner will partner with Cleveland-based Donley’s Inc., which is overseeing construction of our 1,500-car parking garage, as well as a number of minority-owned companies, including Adrian Maldonado & Associates, McTech Corp., Ozanne Construction Company and others that will be announced as plans progress.

The all-local construction team will spend the next year or so preparing for the new construction while our parking garage goes up on the former site of Northcoast Behavioral Health.

Earlier this year, Turner was ranked the No. 1 health care construction management firm by Building Design + Construction magazine. It has overseen the building of hundreds of health care projects, including Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Center, Ohio State’s James Cancer Hospital and the National Intrepid Center of Excellence at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Turner is also managing construction of MetroHealth’s two new hospitals within our Cleveland Heights and Parma locations.
