Turner Construction’s first Transformation outreach and resource fair a big success

4-4-2018 Turner Resource Fair

It’s not surprising that construction is a major part of MetroHealth’s Transformation. We can’t create a new campus without new facilities, after all. And those projects can’t get done without great people and companies working on them.

That’s why we’re teaming up with Turner Construction, our construction manager, to host a series of outreach and resource fairs connecting qualified individuals to companies with jobs to fill. Turner is looking to pair prime bidders with qualified local small, minority- and women-owned business enterprises. Specifically, these events are aimed at increasing diversity and inclusion throughout MetroHealth’s construction process. Long-term, it is aimed at creating relationships to encourage growing diversity in Cleveland’s construction industry.

Each of the four planned fairs, all held in our Center for Campus Transformation, will focus on a different area of work. This week’s event, the first, connected nearly 150 attendees from mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural steel trades with suppliers and vendors that are interested in working with Turner Construction on Transformation projects.

Future fairs will focus on other trades and specialties: Everything from excavation and concrete work, to fire protection and interior finishes will be featured.

If you’re interested in participating in future sessions, either as an attendee or a vendor, click here for more details and registration information.
