We’re proud to team up with Brecksville Fire

2-9-2018 Brecksville Fire Medical Direction

Practice makes perfect, especially when lives are on the line.

That’s why we’re excited to announce a new collaboration with the Brecksville Fire Department: MetroHealth is now the official medical direction partner for the department and its staff.

What does that mean? It’s simple really. We’re going to make sure the men and women of Brecksville Fire are always ready for anything they encounter in the field. In addition to practicing scenarios ahead of time, our clinical experts will consult on emergency care in real time so there’s always a flow of information between their team and our medical experts.

We’ve already begun training sessions to help keep Brecksville Fire’s staff sharp. Recently, our Simulation Center ran drills and practice scenarios on-site that focused on pediatric and other emergencies. Brecksville Fire teams practiced delivering a baby in dangerous situations and responding to pediatric respiratory distress. They also ran drills simulating traumas that cause unstable heartbeats and how to properly protect airways.

At the end of the day, partnerships like these are about improving the care our community receives. Dr. Matt Roehrs agrees. “We want to support the high-quality service that the Brecksville Fire Department already provides to the community.”
