Dr. Gregory Heintschel, MetroHealth Chair of Oral Health and Dentistry

Dr. Gregory Heintschel is the Chair of Oral Health and Dentistry at The MetroHealth System. Dr. Heintschel works in collaboration the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Dental Medicine and other departments at MetroHealth to ensure excellence in access, patient safety, quality and patient experience.

Dr. Heintschel works closely with the CWRU School of Dental Medicine in accordance with the new Master Affiliation Agreement for Dental Medicine between MetroHealth and CWRU.

As Chair, Dr. Heintschel is responsible for the successful recruitment and development of faculty to meet the clinical and academic needs of the department. He maintains excellent teaching programs for residents, fellows and dental students in close collaboration with the CWRU School of Dental Medicine.

Prior to joining MetroHealth, Dr. Heintschel served in various leadership roles at My Community Dental Centers, a Michigan-based nonprofit dental corporation with 37 offices, 440 employees and 250,000 visits annually. In 2015, he was promoted to President and CEO, overseeing the $60 million business. In this role, he collaborated with the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in the education of dental students. In 2016, Dr. Heintschel was appointed by the Governor of Michigan to be the Director of the State Dental Board.

Dr. Heintschel earned his DDS from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, MI.
