MetroHealth Expert Featured in New England Journal of Medicine

Ronnie Fass, MD

MetroHealth’s Ronnie Fass, MD, is a world-renowned expert in the understanding and treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), a debilitating condition that occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach.

Dr. Fass recently published an article in The New England Journal of Medicine, one of the world’s prestigious medical journals, about the disease, which researchers estimate affects 15% of people in the United States. In the piece, Dr. Fass outlines a patient’s particular case and provides clinical recommendations.

Dr. Fass serves as the Division Director of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Medical Director of the Digestive Health Center at MetroHealth. He is also a Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University.

An award-winning researcher, Dr. Fass recently received the American College of Gastroenterology Mastership Award. He is the editor in-chief of two gastroenterology journals and is on the editorial board of scores of national and international journals.
