MetroHealth Receives Trauma Re-verification

The MetroHealth System has again been re-verified as a Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatrics Trauma Center.

The verification process is conducted by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and takes place every three years. MetroHealth has been continually verified for the past 25 years.

“We never take the title of verified trauma center for granted even though we've achieved it for a quarter of a century,” said Dr. Akram Boutros, President and CEO. “Our trauma team earns this title every day by providing the very best care anyone with a traumatic injury could receive.”

Aspects of the ACS verification include:

• Availability of in-house 24/7 trauma surgeons and complementary specialists

• A formalized patient care quality review program

• Peer reviewed research projects

• A robust injury prevention program. In addition to providing expert trauma patient care, MetroHealth believes in sharing its best practices with first responders and emergency medicine providers through partnerships and workshops.

As a founding member of the Northern Ohio Trauma System (NOTS), MetroHealth works in collaboration with Northeast Ohio’s other major hospitals to ensure patients are transported to the right place to receive the right care at the right time.
